$2,500.00
Up for sale is a rare very early Colt M1911 built in 1913 and was part of a shipment of 1,250 pistols delivered to the US Marine Corps in July of that year. This gun has lived through WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, etc. It has the inspector mark from Major Walter Penfield, who was the inspector through 1914. Fortunately, it didn't get the AA or ANAD rebuild stamp or any M1911A1 changes applied to it, making it extremely original. The right side of the slide is marked "Mode of 1911 US Army" and the left side of the frame is marked "United States Property", both of which are correct for this era of gun. It also has the 1912-1913 rounded rear sight which is correct for this era.
Making it even more rare is the horizontally stamped HP barrel, which is the first Colt M1911 barrel and correct for a 2nd-year gun like this one. The barrel alone is a $1000+ item. It also has the colt stamp on the slide behind the serrations, which is correct for pre-1918 guns. It comes with an early series GI magazine with the L stamp on the lip, which is a $100+ item by itself.
Firm at $2500. Pickup in Caddo mills or I can meet you around the east side of the metroplex.
